Fast bowler Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Worries.
'Major setback' for the English camp after Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.
Gus Atkinson increased the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the field early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.
The right-arm seamer felt a problem in his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.
The England team reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "during the day".
The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January starts on Sunday, 4 January.
The visitors have already lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was added to the party as cover for Wood.
The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.
He was omitted from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the fourth Test to fill the void.
Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman as one of just three English batsmen to reach double figures.
Post a single over late on the first day, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.
Yet, at the end of that over, he bowled a change of pace to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed at his leg.
Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match following his omission the previous Test.
