US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a statement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

He was most recognized for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is remembered by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
