Star Rejects Anti-Vax Stance Following Voicing Contentious Coronavirus Film
The "Taken" star has provided his narration to a recent film that casts doubt on the legitimacy of immunizations and commends former government figure RFK Jr.
The Feature's Contentious Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the global outbreak for allegations that the illness was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
The book's collaborator, the executive producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone media personality the Infowars host. Heckenlively took to social media celebrating Neeson's participation in the documentary.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for the actor have issued a comment firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-immunization views.
"We all acknowledge that corruption can exist within the medical sector, but that cannot be confused with being against vaccines," the comment reads. "He has never been, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His extensive work with the UN children's agency underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The statement noted that the actor had no hand in the project's messaging and that inquiries about its content are best addressed to the producers.
Major Themes In the Film
As presented, the script spoken by Neeson features several provocative points:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It argues that "research has become deeply politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- It further attacks stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- On the topic of pandemic shots, it mentions a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Context and Current Issues
It further cites a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the focus of a BBC apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, RFK Jr directed the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This assertion is repeated in the documentary, despite a recent study from the World Health Organisation reiterating no such link has been found.
A Previous Record of Support
Standing in contrast to the film's tone, Neeson has previously shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Two years ago, he described vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
The documentary finishes with Neeson's voice stating, "This marks not the conclusion of our story. This is the dawn of a different phase."
