The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

The intro uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its presence.

Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and energy that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The show's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some changes and differences from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and the video site.
