The President Calls Relatives of Shot Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Policy Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and halt issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
